AZORIAN — Deep Ocean Recovery. A maritime illustration inspired by the 1974 Hughes Glomar Explorer mission to recover a sunken Soviet submarine from the Pacific. According to the CIA’s history, part of the submarine section broke away during the lift; the crew recovered the portion that remained. Flowing seafoam waves and pale-blue salvage imagery reinterpret that extraordinary engineering effort. This is an artistic interpretation, not a technical diagram.
